I have always been fascinated about ballet costumes, props and scenery since I was a little girl while performing on school shows when I was dancing in Spain. When I came to England to continue my ballet training at Central School of Ballet and for several years later, I had the opportunity to work with small companies who always needed a pair of hands in the wardrobe department.
That is how all started.
When I joined VFB in 1999 as a dancer, I used to repair and readjust my costumes and as soon as other dancers discovered what I could do with the needle and thread they started to ask for help.
After retiring from the stage in 2004 and whilst taking my RAD teaching qualifications, I was asked to make the new soldiers costumes for the VFB Nutcracker Production. After that I haven’t stopped working for Peter and Gill repairing, upgrading and recreating original and new designs for our 8 productions.
New season, new dancers and new ideas on how to improve the costumes... It is always a challenge and sometimes with sleepless nights to get it all ready.
It is hard work but it makes me very proud when my son Daniel whispers to me in the middle of a show... “Mummy your costumes look so beautiful...”
Press mention
Sumptuous, spectacular, glamorous costumes (and a wide range of them) together with expert and lively dancing – all underpinned by Tchaikovsky’s wonderful score – make this a production which will charm and fascinate people of all ages.
